PERFORMANCE
How far can the Scion Electron go on a full charge?
The Electron will travel up to 150 miles on a single charge. More than you’ll need for an average day of driving and far enough to accommodate 90% of your driving needs.
How fast can the Electron go?
The Scion Electron will go 0-60 mph in less than 8 seconds. We have not tested the top speed of the Electron yet. We have had it at 90 mph with plenty of accelerator still available. Theoretically it will go 140 mph although we have no intention of testing that limit and we discourage anyone from trying.
CHARGING
How do you charge the Electron?
The Electron comes equipped with a versatile charger capable of charging from a standard 110v household plug or any 220v outlet. This could be an existing dryer or ap-pliance outlet.
How long does it take to charge?
Charge times are dependent on the power available. At its peak 30 amp/220 volts a full charge takes approximately 5 hours. This is typically done while you are sleeping. Every day you can start with a full charge.
Where can I charge other than my home?
Charging can be done anywhere an electrical receptacle exists! That’s the beauty of electric...its everywhere. In addition, there is an extensive public charging network in place that allows charging for free (see map).
TECHNOLOGY
What type of Electric Motor does the Electron use?
The Electron uses a powerful 3 Phase AC Induction Motor manufactured by Siemens. The AC Motor is matched with an Inverter that converts the DC electricity from the bat-teries to AC for the AC Motor. The AC Induction system allows a variety of advanced functionality such as Regenerative braking and Vehicle to Grid (V2G) capability.
What type of Batteries are being used to power the Electron?
The Electron is currently being tested with Lithium Polymer batteries. These batteries provide an ideal combination of Long cycle life, with outstanding energy density and the ability to deliver extremely high power.
AVAILABILITY
How do I buy one of the Electrons?
